Which edible paper type should I choose?
We stock three edible paper types - Vanilla Wafer Paper, Vanilla Wafer Card and Icing paper.
When it comes to choosing your edible paper type, there is no right or wrong answer. It really comes down to 3 things; budget, preference & purpose. Here is some information to help you decide which paper type is right for your project.
VANILLA WAFER PAPER - A 100% natural starch-based material made from potato starch, water & oil (aka rice paper). Virtually tasteless with a hint of vanilla. Measures 0.35mm in thickness and is slightly translucent. Often used as a low-cost or budget-friendly alternative to icing paper. can be pressed/rolled into fondant and stuck directly to buttercream.
VANILLA WAFER CARD - Simply a thicker version of vanilla wafer paper. Measures 0.65mm in thickness. Smooth on both sides. It's more rigid than the wafer paper and so it works great if you want to stand the topper upright.
ICING SHEET - High quality icing sheets (aka frosting sheets, or sugar sheets ) are layers of icing which are pressed thinly onto backing sheets. They have a smooth white finish which results in a great quality print finish. Great for use on fondant icing, marzipan, cream, butter cream & chocolate. Has a subtle sweet taste. As they are a similar texture to fondant, they are slightly flimsy and while it is not essential, we recommend backing onto fondant to prevent any wilting.
